Edutopia
A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away...Edutopia.org is a progressive education program in America set-up by George Lucas (Star Wars, American Graffiti) to encourage more authentic assessment in the classroom. Resources and videos help teachers find new ways to educate in the classroom.
OCTElab
OCTElab is a resource that focuses on Technological Studies and teacher generated content. There are many resources for Technological Teachers provided by other teachers, especially plans and documents about safety in the classroom. There are projects for various subjects and a few other surprises.
The site is not regularly maintained or even completed by the original creator but teachers are uploading new content regularly.
Buck Institute for Education
The BIE is put together for teachers to find resources to create Project Based Learning (PBL). Sign up and view their resources or buy the books. Videos, webinars, blogs and rubrics all over the place. Check it out for some solid resources to get started on using PBL in your room.Instructables
Instructables.com is the internet's front page for Do-It-Yourself crafts and hobby's. Another site that focuses on user generated content to provide endless projects that range from knitting to building a solar powered disco bike trailer. Students could even post their own instructable when completed.
Instructables is an always growing and changing community but the best part is that there is already an Instructables for Teachers. The internet is beautiful (with safe search on).
Techno Bento
Techno Bento is a subpage of the Thames Valley District School Board's mother site curated by Kenji Takahashi that offers resources to teachers looking to up their technology game in the classroom. Many teachers are unaware of the resources available to be signed out through their boards or how to use. Netbooks, iPads, iPods and software are all available to expand your project options all without any added cost to you or the board. Kenji is just for TVDSB but nearly every board has someone who handles their tech and additional resources. You have resources if you know where to look!
Education.com shows up whenever you search projects or any subject in the general area. Don't be thrown off by the science fair title - there are projects in every science fair that could fit into almost every subject. Math, Music... to well science... lots of science.
It's a great resource for those standard school projects if things like Instructables are too odd or OCTElab is too technology based.
